
Suzette watched the two men exit the small room. Corrinne stood to one side sniffling slightly. Waiting patiently for the woman to compose herself, she began to gather up her sewing items placing them in her basket.
“Well dear, I thought perhaps you would like to join the festivities.” Said Corrine, her smile bright though her eyes were still damp with tears.
“Oh, no I couldn’t. I would not want to cause any trouble and the Lord and Lady Briton are in attendance…” Her voice trailed off and her face flamed as red as her hair when Corrinne’s eyes widened and lowered to her protruding belly.
“Oh…oh I see. Well then perhaps it is best you leave. I will send someone.” Corrinne quickly departed the room and sent the nearest maid to assist the young seamstress on her way.


The large double doors opened and the guests turned as one, a collective gasp could be heard.
A flutter of nervousness could be felt in her belly and she took a deep breath, her eyes meeting her soon to be husbands who stood at the front of the chapel in front of the priest a smiling Lewen by his side.
She dared not look at anyone else.
Just breathe….
